Sunday afternoon is a holy afternoon here in Belgium. The World Championship cycling is held in my neighbourhood. At least the Time Trial that is. The riders start on the beach in Knokke and ride for Bruges, all flat in the windy landscape of West-Flanders. Optimal conditions for the best time trialists in the world. Like Stefan Küng, Filippo Ganna, Wout Van Aert, Remco Evenepoel, Tadej Pogacar, etc...
I will go and watch it live with some friends and some beers. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these riders live in action at your backdoor. My cents go to Wout Van Aert as he is in the form of his life. He won 4 stages in the Tour of Britain and the Grand Classement. But of course, Stefan Küng won the European Championship time trial last week, and Ganna came in second, Remco third. There are outsiders like Almeida, Asgreen, Cavagna, Bissegger and Bodnar... A massive starting list it is!
I can't wait for Sunday!
