Finally the day of the race arrived and, despite it has not been the best race of my life neither I get a PB, I have enjoyed it so much. Well, honestly, you cannot enjoy so much when you are running at the limits of your possibilities but, at least, I am happy with the obtained time and the overall performance. The day has been cold and wet, which is not bad for racing but my body, as I said during the whole week, is not in the best desirable shape lately... I think something went wrong with the training plan or, simply, perhaps I am in a low defense time, I don't know... what is clear is that wednesday workout already told me that, this time, it would not be the best time ever for racing, however I have planned the race in a conservative way, running from slow to fast progressively... I have passed the 5th km in 18'41" as planned, maintaining an average page of 3'44"/km, then I speed up smoothly my pace doing the second half of the race slightly faster in 18'33", average pace of 3'42"/km... Time at the end of the race 37'14", more than 2' far of my lately best time which is 35'38" but I am quite happy that I managed to do what I wanted to do according to the plan.
Still there are no pics available from the race organizers but this one was taken by one friend of mine who was cheering us up around the 9th km.
I like this pic because it shows how alone you are when you try to go below 37' in a crowded race of about 15000 runners there... at the end, no one can help you, just you against yourself!
The post-race event is always a must and we used to have a beer and a good sandwich with the colleagues afterwards.
Now, I am going to focus myself on getting recovered this week, I will train tomorrow, softly, and Tuesday... then I have a business trip and it is going to be difficult for going for running till next week.
Next target race is planned for January 2020, now I have to reset myself for a few days and restart the running plan with that objective.
Keep on running!
